I was pleasantly surprised by how sturdy this product is built. Particularly the tray, which you can’t get a sense of from the pictures. The main screw attaches to the tray, so if it is not very sturdy the whole thing would bend and not be useful. Here the tray is heavy gauge steel and the place where the main screw screws into is reinforced with extra steel. It can take the pressure.You’ll probably need to add more wood blocks to have better success. I simple cut some blocks from 2 x 4 scrap wood I had and worked fine.Results for making apple cider worked much better / faster than the juicer that I had been using. Make sure to crush the apples before trying to press them.

This is a nice pick up in my house. We have several fruit trees. This year I wanted to do something with the apples that the tree in my yard produces. It is a Macoun and makes so many apples that my small family cannot possibly eat them. Prior to this we used to toss them into the compost. Well now I can have fresh apple cider and apple cider vinegar as well as compost. Only a couple of issues I see. The instructions could be a bit more informational. Second and this is a design flaw. The rubber washer that goes to seal the connection between the rod and the base doesn’t work very well. I suggest a round O-ring. I have’t looked at the size yet but will go to Home Depot soon to find one. Without it cider drips down through to the larged locking nut for the system. Otherwise it works great.

The media could not be loaded.A great center attraction for parties. We’ve made gallons of fresh cider with this unit. Note that you need to mash the apples before pressing them.Be sure to get the double handle version, and not the single handle version which people have found frustrating. With two handles, the force for turning the screw is symmetric. Also, unlike the single handle version, the handles do not come off unexpectedly.
